WAKT is now accepting applications for its Fall 2019 schedule!
Written by Sean Nestor on June 14, 2019
Between June 15 and July 15, any Toledo-area resident can submit an application to have a radio program on WAKT 106.1FM, Toledo’s community radio station. Programs can be talk or music of any kind, any length or frequency, and will be evaluated based on how well they aligns with the station’s mission to be a platform for underrepresented perspectives in local media. There is no fee to apply, and no cost required to run an approved program.
All submissions received by July 15 will be reviewed by the board of Toledo Integrated Media Education, the nonprofit which governs WAKT 106.1FM. All aplicants will be contacted by a board member, with qualifying programs asked to submit a pilot episode for further evaluation (WAKT 106.1FM can assist with this for those without a background in radio). Successful pilots will be greenlit for a time slot pending the successful completion of mandatory training by the host. Hosts are not compensated financially.
There will be more application windows in the future for those who miss this deadline.
To apply, please print out and complete the attached PDF file, then mail it to Toledo Integrated Media Education PO Box 733 Toledo, OH 43697. If you have any questions about the application process, please do so via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
