Drawing from a wide spectrum of music genres & styles, DEEP MIX: MUSIC & MORE will be a sanctuary for people’s expressions through their music & stories.
Amjad Doumani developed a voracious appetite for music from a young age. Ever since, he has immersed himself in music & culture and never looked back. Knowledge that started in 1967 Beirut with 45’s spinning popular Arabic music & rock & roll exploded with my move to the USA at the age of 12 where he I discovered art & experimental Rock, Jazz, Blues, Folk, Classical and World Music. I began building & archiving a music collection, which has become a finely distilled representation of a wide array of music from all over the world.
In 1987 I opened B-Bop Records, immediately becoming an underground destination for music that couldn’t be found anywhere else in the area. Radio has already become more & more commercialized, segregated & homogenized and many record stores with them, so B-Bop played a crucial role in being a voice for authentic & underground music. I have been a DJ at public & private events, festivals, and have always felt rewarded from making people happy & moved by the music I share.
More than a record store, B-Bop was a also a performance art and community space that united artists and voices that had no venue to create & perform in at the time. For the past 30+ years. B-Bop has been a cultural hub providing opportunity & space for art & expression ignored by the mainstream media.
I have organized many music, film and speaking events throughout Toledo and the surrounding region, supporting the regions artists and providing a cultural crossroads for collaboration with other artists from around the world. I continue to operate B-Bop Records online and maintain a connection to the community.
This connection will continue with DEEP MIX: MUSIC & MORE and is the fulfillment of a dream for me. I’ve always wanted to host a radio show and I’m excited to do it on WAKT FM in Toledo, where I believe it will be a source for positive energy & creativity.
